Skusevičius meets with Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, discusses bilateral relations, regional security, and Ukraine
On the margins of the ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Myanmar on 20 November, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Darius Skusevičius met with Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Kazuyuki Nakane and discussed bilateral cooperation, regional security and prospects for multilateral cooperation. Japan was invited to contribute to the development of a European plan for Ukraine that would aim at building the country’s capacity for investment management.
Skusevičius thanked Japan for supporting Lithuania’s initiative to organize an ASEM discussion on women’s economic empowerment in May. The Government of Japan dedicates considerable attention to women’s economic empowerment and is among the nine ASEM governments that have supported Lithuania’s initiative to organize an international high-level conference dedicated to this issue.
In addition, Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister called on Japan to ratify the 2017 bilateral agreement on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion, and to conclude a working holiday agreement.
