Relations with Mexico

On 5 May 1921 Mexico recognized Lithuania de jure.
On 5 September 1991 Mexico recognized the re-established independent State of Lithuania de jure.
Diplomatic relations were established on 5 November 1991.
From 1994 to 1998, Alfonsas Eidintas served as the first Ambassador of Lithuania to Mexico after the re-establishment of independence (resided in the U.S.).
From 1992 to 1995, Jorge Pinto served as the first Ambassador of Mexico to Lithuania after the re-establishment of independence (resided in Sweden).
