100th anniversary commemoration for U.S. lieutenant Samuel J. Harris, who died for Lithuania's freedom
On February 29 The Lithuanian Embassy and the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union in USA, gathered in Arlington National Cemetery to honour Samuel J. Harris (1896 - 1920), a senior lieutenant of the US Army, a volunteer of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, who died for the freedom and independence of Lithuania.
The commemoration of 100th anniversary of his death in Arlington cemetery was attended by Lithuanian Ambassador Rolandas Kriščiūnas, Lithuanian Defense Attaché, colonel Alvydas Šiuparis, former commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, general Jonas Kronkaitis, the archers of the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union that came all the way from Chicago, and members of the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian communities living in and around Washington D.C.
