A book on legendary Lithuanian partisan presented at the Embassy
An inspiring discussion about Adolfas Ramanauskas (codename Vanagas), one of the leaders of Lithuanian Freedom Fighters and a symbol of Lithuania’s resistance against Soviet occupation took place at the Embassy on September 5. Dr. Arvydas Anušauskas, the author of the book "I am the Hawk" ("Aš esu Vanagas"), presented in details how he managed to collect small piecies of information into one story. The Soviet regime tried to erase from the memory any signs of post-World War II resistance.
Lithuania is proud of thousands of women and men, who have participated in the armed anti-Soviet resistance movement. The key motive behind the resistance was the goal to restore an independent and democratic Republic of Lithuania.
