AMBASSADOR INVITES LITHUANIAN-AMERICANS TO JOIN IN THE CREATION OF STRATEGY "LITHUANIA 200"

On Sept. 10 during his visit to Chicago, IL, Zygimantas Pavilionis, Ambassador of Lithuania urged the participants of the "Santara-Sviesa" Federation congress to be active creators of Lithuania’s future. Ambassador Pavilionis reminded the attendees that at the beginning of the year Andrius Kubilius, Prime Minister of Lithuania, brought together different experts, scientists, businessmen, analysts of economic and political developments to join the State Progress Council, which with the help from the community would draw clear long-term priorities for Lithuania’s development, name the most important values for Lithuania, think of the ways to make Lithuania a country of competition, smart economy and creative civic society, and figure out Lithuania’s formula for success. A strategic planning document “Lithuania 2030” would be prepared based on the results of these discussions, said Pavilionis.

Ambassador invited the Lithuanians living abroad to join in the creation of this strategy and decide together which way Lithuania should go.

During his two-day working visit in Chicago Pavilionis also attended the opening of “ First Lithuanians in Texas” photo exhibit at the Ciurlionis Gallery, Lithuanian Youth Center and thanked the Chicago Lithuanian community for actively fostering the Lithuanian culture and traditions. On Sep. 11 Ambassador participated at the start of the school year ceremony at the Lithuanian Cultural School and visited the Lithuanian Research and Studies Center at the Youth Center and looked through the archives stored there.
