Lithuanian ambassador to the U.S. Zygimants Pavilionis urged the Lithuanian and American business communities to be more active in developing ties with each other. Speaking at the business promotion seminar "Invest Lithuania" on October 28 in Chicago Pavilionis said that Lithuania is at the recovery stage and its economy is growing up again.
"We expect the economic growth next year to be around 3 percent. It is the Government’s key goal and principal task to change the face of the Lithuanian economy so significantly that it contributes to the enhancement of this region’s global competitiveness," said the ambassador.Pavilionis noted that the government of Lithuania focuses on creating a friendly, attractive and welcoming environment for the investors. Its work and priorities now concentrate on improving business environment, attracting investments and demolishing the bureaucracy walls.
Pavilionis: "Government prepared measures which synergies state support for investors and development of innovations by using EU funding and local knowledge. The Government aims to provide state assistance and attractive support packages for investing in Lithuania. We have all the necessary infrastructure. We are implementing innovations and training high profile specialists in our universities."
The ambassador stressed that with these new opportunities there was no better time to start considering Lithuania as a location for your investment.
"We are seeking for Lithuania to become a Northern Europe Service hub in 2015 as well as moving up the value chain in traditional industries and accordingly becoming a Centre of Excellence and Innovation for Traditional Industries in 2020. We understand that a lot of hard work has to be done to make this vision come true. But we are on the right path and making progress. I firmly believe that these goals will be achieved in the upcoming five years."
