DCM ŠATŪNAS DISCUSS LITHUANIAN OSCE CHAIRMANSHIP PRIORITIES

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) held a conference “Trans-Atlanticism in Transition: Focus on the Central-East Europe” on October 14 to discuss U.S. ties with Central-Eastern European countries and the region's role in the broader NATO and EU projects. Speaking at the conference, Deputy Chief of Mission of Lithuania Simonas Šatūnas presented Lithuania’s OSCE chairmanship work programme, noting that Lithuania is the first of the Baltic countries that have taken a serious mission of the presidency over an organization that unites 56 countries, including the United States and Canada. S. Šatūnas said that after a busy year of chairmanship, Lithuania expects to wrap up its presidency with a successful OSCE ministerial meeting in Vilnius at the beginning of December 2011.
