Embassy hosted a discussion on Russia's Civil Society

The Embassy of Lithuania hosted a discussion “Not Silenced. Russia’s civil society’s fight for the future of European Russia”. The discussion was held to honor the memory of great Russian statesman, former Deputy Prime Minister and the late leader of Russian opposition Boris Nemtsov.

Among the speakers were Boris Nemtsov’s daughter Zhanna Nemtsova, the Founder and the President of Boris Nemtsov Foundation for Freedom, Natalia Arno, the President of Free Russia Foundation, Miriam Lanskoy, the Senior Director for Russia and Eurasia at the National Endowment for Democracy, and Special Rapporteur for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on the murder of Boris Nemtsov and Member of Lithuania’s Parliament Emanuelis Zingeris.

The speakers and the participants of the discussion emphasized the significance of engagement with Russia’s civil society, and the importance of strengthening those ties.

Representatives of U.S. Department of State, American think tank experts and journalists, the EU Delegation in the USA, European diplomats took part in the discussion which was organized by the Embassy of Lithuania in partnership with the Free Russia Foundation.
