FIRST U.S. CERTIFIED TRADE MISSION TO LITHUANIA INTRODUCED

The first U.S. certified Trade mission to Lithuania was introduced to the potential U.S. partners, trade consultants, experts and representatives from various trade structures on July 12 at the Embassy of Lithuania. "Lithuania is a dynamic and promising country and it is worth investing and working in," said Giedrius Kadziauskas, Vice-minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania as he presented the Lithuania's trade environment and the largest government conducted projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Lorraine Harinton, Special Representative for Economic and Commercial Affairs, U.S. Department of State agreed that Lithuania is worth investing in and stressed that Lithuania had great cooperation opportunities in energy, trade and investment sectors, as Secretary Hillary Clinton stated during her recent trip to Lithuania.

The Certified Trade mission's focus industries include information and communication technologies, client support centers, production of solar panels, biomass and bioplastics. The first Certified Trade Mission will take place on September 25-27, 2011 in Lithuania and will promote specific commercial opportunities and creation of joint-venture projects and cooperation between U.S. and Lithuanian companies.

Simonas Šatūnas, Charge d‘Affaires a.i. noted that the first trade mission would take place soon after the European Basketball Championships occurred in Lithuania and suggested that the participants of the mission could expect great energy and emotions in Lithuania at that time.

Ater Majok, basketball player who was drafted by Lakers (Los Angeles) at 58 in the NBA draft this year and Dr. James Billington, Librarian of the U.S. Library of Congress were among the guests at the event.
