From the Soviet Red Flag to the Lithuanian Tricolor: 50 Years of Struggle for Freedom
The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation and Museum is proud to host a new temporary exhibit, the first exhibit in the United States from the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights in Vilnius. Entitled “From the Soviet Red Flag to the Lithuanian Tricolor: 50 Years of Struggle for Freedom” the exhibit opens on Friday, March 15 at 3:00 p.m. at the Victims of Communism Museum in Washington, D.C. We cordially invite you to attend the opening ceremonies as we remember the Lithuanian fight for freedom under 50 years of Soviet occupation, on Friday, March 15 at 3:00 p.m. at the Victims of Communism Museum in Washington, D.C. The event will include welcome speeches from the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, Her Excellency, Audra Plepytė, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the U.S., and the curator of the exhibit from the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights. A panel discussion will explore the Lithuanian fight for freedom and its relation to the ongoing war in Ukraine. The grand opening of the exhibition and a light reception will follow.
