In Philadelphia Ambassador Presented Lithuania's Initiatives to Preserve the Heritage of Litvaks
On May 19 the Ambassador of Lithuania Rolandas Kriščiūnas paid a working visit to Philadelphia, the largest city in the State of Pennsylvania, where he attended the American Jewish Committee (AJC) Philadelphia Chapter Board meeting and gave an interview to the biggest regional Jewish newspaper The Jewish Exponent.
Ambassador Kriščiūnas briefed the AJC board members about the efforts and steps to preserve historical and cultural heritage of Lithuanian Jewish Litvaks, the ongoing and planned memorial projects, the efforts to strenghten tolerance, fight the anti-Semitism initiatives, and Holocaust education initiatives. The famous Lithuanian artist Ray Bartkus who resides in New York, together with Kaunas Municipality Council member Professor Jonas Audėjaitis presented the Holocaust memorial monument to be erected in Kaunas.
