IN WASHINGTON, D.C., LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER AND WORLD BANK’S VICE-PRESIDENT DISCUSS LITHUANIAN DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION PROJECTS
On 18 November in Washington, D.C., Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Ignatavičius and Vice-President for the World Bank’s Europe and Central Asia Region Philippe Le Houérou discussed Lithuanian development cooperation projects and attention given to the reform process in Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus. “Lithuania has gained its own transformation experience, has competent experts and specialists, who have successfully provided assistance to state institutions in Moldova and Ukraine. Lithuania is ready to continue that and to find new possibilities of the provision of such assistance,” said E.Ignatavičius.
During the conversation, interlocutors exchanged opinions on the economic situation in Ukraine and Belarus, and on the reform process in Moldova. The Vice-Minister invited the World Bank’s Vice-President and experts to more frequently attend targeted expert meetings on economic developments in the EU’s Eastern neighbours and on their reform process that are organized in Lithuania.
“There are a number of U.S. and Western non-governmental organizations in Lithuania, and knowledge has been gained through extensive experience. However, we have to strengthen our cooperation with the World Bank’s experts who analyze economic developments in the EU’s Eastern neighbours in detail. Vilnius could be a good place to discuss these developments,” said E.Ignatavičius.
