June 14 - the Day of Mourning and Hope in Lithuania

On June 14 Lithuania commemorates the Day of Mourning and Hope which marks 83 years since the beginning of mass deportations of Lithuanian citizens to Siberia. We invite you to the traditional initiative „You Can Not Deport Our Memory“, which aims to preserve and honor the memory of victims of communism by reading the names of the deportees and political prisoners. After the name - reading ceremony the guests will be invited to explore the exhibit “From the Soviet Red to the Lithuanian Tricolor: 50 Years of Struggle for Freedom” and the artwork of Henrikas Ciparis.  The event will take place on June 14, 12:00 PM at the Victims of Communism Museum, 900 15th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20005.
