LITHUANIA PRESENTED TO THE ALUMNI GROUP OF A HIGH-RANKING US RESEARCH UNIVERSITY
On October 23, Lithuanian Embassy in Washington hosted a Tufts University alumni event, organized together with the Washington Tufts University alumni association. Lithuania was presented to a group of Tufts graduates of various years and programs, who are presently pursuing careers in the federal government, business, NGOs and media. Participants of the event – economists, lawyers, health scientists, and international relations specialists – were introduced to the Lithuanian history, economic policy, investment and business climate, and familiarized with the country’s foreign policy issues, its priorities and the upcoming presidency in the European Union.
Lithuanian diplomats underlined advantages the Lithuanian geographic location has to offer to the international businesses and opportunities Lithuanian transport sector opens for the business development in the East European region, shared success stories of the American investors and business development companies that have a business presence in Lithuania. “Target investment measures, undertaken by the Lithuanian government, encouraged the international investors to expand in Lithuania, particularly, in ICT, life science and scientific engineering sectors. Lithuanian universities alongside business and science valleys created in the country form a great environment for this business expansion” - Deputy Chief of Mission Simonas Šatūnas underlined in the presentation.
Tufts University was established in 1852 and is famous for the oldest graduate school of international affairs in the United States – Fletcher school of law and diplomacy and for advanced programs in biotechnologies, medicine and business. University programs are specifically crafted to emphasize active citizenship and public service in all of its disciplines and is well known for its internationalism and study abroad program.
Internationally acclaimed Tufts today is a home to almost 10.000 undergraduate and graduate students, it is a widely recognized academic authority in various business and scientific publications. It is known as both a Little Ivy and a "New Ivy" and consistently ranks among the nation's top schools.
