LITHUANIA, THE U.S., FINLAND PREPARES FOR THE BIGGEST MULTINATIONAL LITHUANIAN-HOSTED EXERCISE THIS YEAR AMBER HOPE-11
February 24–25, representatives of Lithuania, USA and Finland gathered for a conference held at the Joint Headquarters of the Lithuanian Armed Forces to discuss preparation for the multinational exercise Amber Hope-11 Lithuania will host this summer. The multinational crisis response exercise will take place on June 13–23 in Pabradė Training Area (Lithuanian Armed Forces).
According to the MoD press release, at the conference command group of the exercise and commanders of multinational battalions to take part in the exercise familiarised with operational plan and scenario of the exercise, and discussed other arrangement points with planning personnel of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.According to the planning, representatives of Estonia, Georgia, USA, Canada, Latvia, Poland and Finland, over 2,2 thousand military , officers and civilians in total, as well as observers from other countries and organisations, will take part in the exercise along with members of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and other organisations.
Lithuania and foreign participating states will deploy military capabilities to the crisis response exercise Amber Hope-11, personnel of the Lithuanian Nava Force and Special Operations Squadron will join the exercise in the territorial waters and exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea of Lithuania.
Two battalion-sized units formed from Lithuanian and foreign military personnel will be led by a Lithuanian and a Finnish officer.
Amber Hope-11 is the biggest military exercise to be held in Lithuania this year.
Joint Headquarters of the Lithuanian Armed Forces does planning of the exercise and will conduct and command the active of the exercise in Pabradė Training Area.
Multinational exercise Amber Hope-11 has been held since 1995. The last time the training event took place in 2007 in Klaipėda. The main task of Amber Hope-11 - coordination of NATO’s and other states’ joint action in multinational crisis response operations with account to differences in equipment and armaments, structures and procedures of units. The exercise is also aimed at assessing and drilling host nation support (HNS) procedures.
