LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR HOSTS A MEETING OF BALTIC AND NORDIC AMBASSADORS WITH US DEPUTY SECRETARY OF STATE

On 12 March, Lithuanian Ambassador to the U.S. Žygimantas Pavilionis held a meeting of Baltic and Nordic ambassadors, who reside in Washington D.C., with the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns. The meeting focused on U.S. cooperation with the eight Nordic and Baltic States in the framework of the Enhanced Partnership in Northern Europe (e-PINE).  Pavilionis presented the priorities of Lithuania, as the country coordinates the e-PINE activity in 2012.  “The Nordic-Baltic relations with the United States are versatile, strong and perspective. We see fine frameworks and topics for cooperation – starting with support for democratic reform in the Eastern Europe and ending with a more active dialogue on issues of energy, economy and regional security,” the Ambassador said.

The highest ranking Foreign Service Officer in the United States also discussed relations with the European Union neighbours in the East and the upcoming NATO Summit in Chicago on 20-21 May
