Lithuanian Ambassador to Mexico makes her first official visit to the country
On November 23-26, the first visit of Audra Plepytė, Lithuania's Ambassador to the USA and Mexico, took place in Mexico City, the capital of the country.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico Ambassador met with Undersecretary Carmen MORENO TOSCANO and Director General for Europe Bernardo AGUILAR CALVO. A. Plepytė also participated in the event of the establishment of the friendship group with Lithuania in the Mexican House of Representatives.
During the meetings, it was agreed to organize consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of Lithuania and Mexico, the possibilities of expanding economic relations and closer cooperation in the fields of science and culture were discussed. The talks also emphasized cooperation in international forums, especially on issues of helping Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression and ensuring Russia's responsibility.
During the visit of the Lithuanian Ambassador, the new premises of the Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in Mexico, headed by Ronen Waisser Landau, were ceremonially opened. The Ambassador presented the opportunities for investment in Lithuania and the export of Lithuanian products to the Mexican market to the representatives of business and companies. Discussions were held to look for ways how to better promote business relations between Mexico and Lithuania.
In Mexico, A. Plepytė also met with representatives of the Lithuanian and Litvak communities, visited the Justo Sierra synagogue, which is an exact copy of the synagogue building in the city of Šiauliai, Lithuania.
