LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER ACQUAINTS THE DELEGATION OF THE U.S. CONGRESS ADVISERS WITH PRIORITIES OF LITHUANIAN FOREIGN POLICY

Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Vytautas Leškevičius met with members of the delegation of the U.S. Congress advisors, who came on a visit to Lithuania on May 21, and acquainted them with priorities of Lithuania’s foreign and security policy, preparation to hold the Presidency of the EU Council, and the country’s projects that strengthen energy independence. The meeting focused on cooperation within NATO, relations with neighbouring countries, Lithuanian coordination of the Nordic Baltic Eight (NB8) and activities of the Enhanced Partnership in Northern Europe (e-PINE).  The U.S. representatives are paying a visit to Lithuania until May 26. Their goal is to get acquainted with key issues of Lithuania’s foreign policy, the country’s efforts to strengthen energy security and possibilities to transport the U.S. cargo via Lithuania. The delegation consists of representatives of eleven influential Members of the U.S. Congress, including Senator Dick Durbin and representatives of the Offices of the following Members of the House of Representatives: John Shimkus, David Dreier, Alcee Hastings and Mario Diaz-Balart. The guests will visit Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and Nida.
