Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates new United States Assistant Secretary of State on appointment

On September 29 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius has congratulated Wess Mitchell on his appointment as the new United States Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.

In his letter of congratulations, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister emphasizes the importance of the strategic partnership between Lithuania and the U.S. that aims at further strengthening our bilateral ties in various fields, including energy security. Linkevičius thanked the U.S. for a shipment of liquefied natural gas, which had reached the Port of Klaipėda from the U.S. for the second time this year.

Lithuania’s Foreign Minister expressed hope that the appointment of the President of the Centre for European Policy Analysis, who is also a Baltic security expert, as the new Assistant Secretary of State will step up the U.S. diplomatic efforts to maintain the unity of the Euro-Atlantic community in the face of current challenges.
