LITHUANIA'S PARLIAMENT SPEAKER, FOREIGN MINISTER EXPRESSED CONDOLENCES OVER THE ARIZONA SHOOTING
On 10 January, Lithuania's Parliament Speaker Irena Degutiene sent a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner, expressing condolences to the families of the victims over the tragic accident in the State of Arizona.
"On behalf of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the whole Lithuanian nation, allow me to convey my heartfelt condolences to you and the people of the United States of America on the tragedy of 8 January 2011 in Tucson, Arizona. We share the great sorrow with you and the victims‘ close ones. May the American families remain strong at this difficult moment", the letter of Speaker I.Degutiene reads.A similar letter of condolences was send by Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis to the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The Minister wished quick recovery to the U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords. The U.S. congresswoman is in critical condition after a shooting incident.
“It is with great shock and disbelief that I learned of the terrible tragedy in Arizona. I would like to extend my sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and American people. I hope for Representative Gabrielle Giffords’ recovery,” the letter of Minister A. Ažubalis reads.
