THE U.S-NORTH EUROPEAN PARTNERSHIP MEETING IN WASHINGTON

On November 4-5, Political Director of the Foreign Ministry of Lithuania, Eitvydas Bajarunas, will participate in Washington, D.C. at the annual meeting of e-PINE (Enhanced Partnership in Northern Europe). The e-PINE initiative was launched in 2003 as a wider-scale continuation of the U.S.-Baltic Partnership Charter with the aim of strengthening the U.S., Baltic and Nordic co-operation. The format of e-PINE sessions involves the organization of regular 8+1 (Baltic and Nordic countries, and the U.S.) consultations by political directors, during which, the representatives of the participating countries exchange opinions on current international and regional issues.

During the meeting in Washington, the parties are to discuss relations with Russia and countries of Eastern Partnership, the preparation of the forthcoming NATO summit in Lisbon and the new NATO strategic concept, Iran’s nuclear policy, China and the issue of cybernetic security.

One of the meetings of the e-PINE will take place at the Embassy of Lithuania.
