WELL-KNOWN U.S. CORPORATIONS WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE U.S. TRADE MISSION TO LITHUANIA
Large U.S. corporations from „Fortune 500“ list will participate in the first U.S. Certified Trade Mission to Lithuania in September 26-27. Among them, world telecommunications giant „AT&T” and one of the biggest energy industry corporations – “Exelon”. In addition to that, several other “Fortune 500” companies actively show interest in participating in the Trade Mission. In the list of 500 richest U.S. companies made by the „Fortune“ magazine, „AT&T“ is number 12. It is estimated that during last year, company „Exelon“ reached more than 18 billion U.S. dollars in revenues, and its profit exceeded 2,5 billion U.S. dollars. Moreover, the participation of corporation „Sutherland Global Services“, which has more than 30 thousand employees all over the world, has been confirmed. This year, „Inc. Magazine“ announced this company as the biggest U.S. job creator in 2010. Also software creator „Foxit Software“, IT solutions company „Informatix, Inc.“ and alternative energy company „Critical Solutions“ will be participating in the Trade Mission.

Today the economic ties between the U.S. and Lithuania are as strong as ever, and I am very happy to see the promising prospects for increased participation by U.S. businesses in Lithuania's favorable business environment“, - said U.S. ambassador to Lithuania H.E. Anne E. Derse.„The participation of such well-known companies like „AT&T“ and „Exelon“ will certainly encourage other large companies to consider the opportunity to expand their businesses to Lithuania. We are also starting the registration of Lithuanian companies. During the Trade Mission, companies from both countries will be able to directly consider the opportunities of cooperation“, - said the chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania, Mr. Tadas Vizgirda.
On Monday, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between European – American Business Council (EABC) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania. The MOU was signed on the same day in Vilnius and Washington, with attendance of U.S. and Lithuanian ambassadors. Hopefully it will allow to attractto Lithuania more world business leaders from ICT, client support, renewable energy and bio-plastics industries.
EABC unifies 75 international companies, 50 of which are based in U.S. The EABC members list contains such U.S. companies like „Intel“, „Adobe Systems“, „Deloitte“, „Underwriters Laboratories” and others. The business council was established in 1989 and is currently the largest business association which unifies European and American companies.
In order to introduce U.S. businesses to investment opportunities in Lithuania and attract more companies to the Trade Mission, the meetings will be held in U.S. business centers – Silicon Valley, Chicago Metro region and Huston in August and September. It is estimated that in these meetings almost 100 international U.S. companies will participate.
In the middle of July, in the Lithuanian embassy in Washington the reception was held, where the Trade Mission was presented by high rank officials of both countries. During the reception, U.S. secretary Hillary Clinton‘s special representative for commerce and business Ms. Lorrain Hariton noticed that there are great perspectives in energy sector and import-export opportunities in other industries. The Vice Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania Mr. Giedrius Kadziauskas presented Lithuania‘s business and investment environment, future projects and U.S. companies that have already chosen Lithuania.
